Helideck Friction Test
The Helideck Friction Test is a procedure conducted to assess the friction characteristics of a helipad or helideck’s surface. The friction of the helideck surface is crucial for safe helicopter operations, especially during landing and takeoff, as it affects the helicopter’s ability to maintain proper traction and control. The test aims to determine the coefficient of friction between the helideck surface and the helicopter’s landing gear or skids.
Helideck Drop Test
A helideck drop test is a safety procedure carried out to ensure the structural integrity and safety of the perimeter safety nets of the helideck. The ideal design should produce a ‘hammock’ effect which should securely contain a body falling, rolling or jumping into it, without serious injury. The test involves dropping a weight from a predetermined height onto the net to determine its integrity.
